Although Grafos Verlag GmbH has only existed since 2006, its origins date back to 1973. At that time, Grafos Verlag AG was founded in Vaduz as a publisher and distributor of original artwork. Guillermo Herlt, the current CEO of Grafos Verlag GmbH, worked for Grafos Verlag AG from 1996, most recently as Deputy Managing Director. In 2006, he performed a 'management buyout' and moved to Germany the following year. Grafos Verlag GmbH operates primarily as a publisher and wholesaler in the fine art prints market. Due to the significant proportion of Spanish art, Grafos Verlag GmbH operates a second warehouse in Spain (where all the books are stored).
Due to his personal interest in Lotus cars (he has been a serial owner since 1991), Grafos Verlag GmbH started publishing with the second edition of Brian Buckland's highly acclaimed "The Rebuilding of a Lotus Elan" (see here).
